This place is so stupid.

[As he talks to the journal, he's sketching.

This place is great for his creativity, he's realized... but that's because there's nothing else to do. He hasn't left his apartment in a few days except to steal food from the communal kitchen.

Being forcably dragged back into the mindset of having Kaoru and only Kaoru to rely on... didn't go away easily. He'd missed his brother before, but it's only gotten worse since then.]

The people in charge are idiots. Why would you only kidnap one? It still doesn't make any sense.

[He might not realize that he can be heard right now. He hasn't been exactly careful about where his hand's brushed in the journal.]

We're not supposed to be apart.

[Because Kaoru has to come. He has to be here, and it has to be soon. Nothing else makes sense. Nothing else is at all okay.]

Perhaps. But I wonder if that will turn out as well as you think.

[she wouldn't wish this place on anyone, least of all the ones she cared about. But everyone seemed to feel just a little bit different about Luceti, so perhaps he would, too]

It'll be Kaoru here. So, it'll be fine.

[It was part of Hikaru's selfishness. If he was here, Kaoru ought to be, too. Whatever came, they could face it together.

[she can understand that and so smiles a little]

[she tilts her head a bit, not that he can see it]

[a hesitation and then:]

Has he been here before?

Might.

I've got pink wings, so he might have blue.

[not really, but that isn't important. She's about to tell him that, even if his sibling shows up, they may not remember him, but stops herself. Of course they will. That is the nature of siblings.]

Then I will watch out for him. But be sure to stay strong until he arrives, ne?

I will. [He has to. Because Kaoru's going to be as confused and scared as he was -- is -- and he'll need him to tell him what's what.]

The apartment's all ready for him, too.

Good. In the meantime, try to make friends. It will be difficult at first but-- the more people who are waiting for you--the easier it is.

[Have a few moments of radio silence, Robin. Then:]

Why do I need friends here?

[...It's sad how sincere that statement is.]

[she's a bit taken aback by the question]

Are...you one that prefers to be alone?

That's a stupid question. [And you're a charmer, Hikaru. Really.

Except you're not at all.] I hate being alone.

[perhaps he doesn't have the right friends. Or perhaps he's just that way. Well perhaps things will change for the better, and perhaps they will change for the worse. Who knows?]

[For Hikaru, "alone" is any context in which he does not have "Kaoru." Too many years of isolation have made him very slow with new relationships of any kind.]
