This place is so stupid.

[As he talks to the journal, he's sketching.

This place is great for his creativity, he's realized... but that's because there's nothing else to do. He hasn't left his apartment in a few days except to steal food from the communal kitchen.

Being forcably dragged back into the mindset of having Kaoru and only Kaoru to rely on... didn't go away easily. He'd missed his brother before, but it's only gotten worse since then.]

The people in charge are idiots. Why would you only kidnap one? It still doesn't make any sense.

[He might not realize that he can be heard right now. He hasn't been exactly careful about where his hand's brushed in the journal.]

We're not supposed to be apart.

That's pretty amazing. I could never do stuff like that. It could be really helpful around here, though.

It'll be a lot easier once we have our own sewing machine.

["We," "our." Because Kaoru was going to come. Soon. And stay.]

[Shinji doesn't even think twice about it. ...it's kind of sad.]

Oh, right. I guess stuff like that probably doesn't show up often.

[He hasn't heard from the first person yet, and he doubts they got him one, so...]

If you find one, I'll trade you for it. Two or three full outfits, minus shoes and socks. Custom designed.

Oh, um, you don't have to do that. I'm not very fashionable, anyway.

[But besides that, he's just not really used to being paid back for anything.]

If you're not all that fashionable, that's even more reason to take me up on the offer. You'll be wearing the next big name in fashion, so that'll change.

[And because even if everything is free here, Hikaru doesn't like just giving stuff away or being given things. It has value, so he'll part with something of equal value.]

[Shinji still feels kind of bad about it, but if it's something like this, he gets the feeling he shouldn't protest too much. It was something he cared about and something he was good at, after all.]

A-alright. [There's a small, shy smile in his voice.] I'll let you know if I find anything. The stuff in the stores changes a lot, so I'm sure it'll show up eventually.

What sort of colors do you like? [His memory of body types is pretty good, actually. Probably because the designer eye never really turns off.

He might as well start sketching some stuff up, just in case.]

Um, well, cool colors, I guess. I don't really like anything that's too bright.

I'll come up with a few designs then, see what you like.

I can't wait to see them. [Again, he wasn't very fashionable, but Hikaru seemed talented, and to have something designed specifically with him in mind? It... was actually kinda neat.] It really looks like you know what you're doing.

Kaoru's stuff is better. [The only person he'll praise more than himself.] But I'm pretty good.

I'm sure it's still better than what a lot of people can do. I haven't heard of many people here who can make things like that.

Yeah, well, I learned from the best. [Which he actually really means. His mom's stuff is amazing, as far as he's concerned.] Groomed to be one half of the team that's going to take it over when she retires.

That sounds like a lot of responsibility. But it's great that you already know what you're going to do.

[He's actually a little envious. He wasn't sure that he could think that far ahead even if he wanted to.]

We've always known, so it's not a big deal. We're totally prepared for it. Or we will be, anyway. That's why Mom's having us do a bit at Paris and Milan this year.

Have you ever done anything like that before?

[It sounded pretty... overwhelming.]

We've helped her out. Never had our own stuff, but we've been kind of assistants.
