[Hikaru's been very, very quiet lately. Holed up alone in his apartment, working on designs and sewing new clothes with his lovely friend -- a sewing machine.

But it's nearly that time again, so... he's gotten a little restless.]

Could everyone keep an eye out for Hitachiin Kaoru for me? I know he's coming. ["He wouldn't make me spend Christmas alone."] I'm just worried, you know? That he'll end up somewhere remote. So, just keep a lookout, okay?

Anyway.

Someone told me that you guys have a pretty major Christmas party here, so I'm totally taking commissions for clothes.

Well, what've you got? I can't really do consistent pricing here because, y'know, whole "lack of currency" thing. Makes it really annoying to be in business.

Well, I'm pretty good with technology. Have anything broken that needs fixing?

I don't. Sewing machine's working just fine, and that's... basically all I've got far as tech really goes.

I'm okay at it. Somehow I ended up doing that when I was first here - the cooking, I mean. It's nothing special, but I don't burn it either. I've learned to manage vegetarian meals pretty well if that's your thing.

Not usually. I mean, it's okay for some meals, but not an all-the-time thing. Ugh.

Yes, exactly! That's what I tell Spock, but no he has to be totally Vulcan and only eat vegetables or something. I don't know how he manages.

I've heard all the arguments, still think most of 'em are pretty dumb. Only ones that really make sense? Health reasons. And even then? Just for you, not something you should pass off on everyone.

Definitely. He's not a pusher, but I don't like wasting any of the produce so I end up planning half the meals when I cook around what he's getting. Which is rabbit food. It's unfair he's stronger than me and that's all he eats.

I hate cooking. Back home, we had a whole staff to take care of that. And everything else.

So being here is kind of a shocker then, huh? I mean, more than the usual shock.

It's horrifying. Tiny apartments, no money, no fashion, nothing.

Well it could be worse. We could be stuck in cells or something. I know it's a cage, but at least it's a big one out here.

I wouldn't really mind it at all if Kaoru was here. Once he comes? It'll be fine.

We've never been apart. Not for more than a few hours.

I wish I could tell you. I wonder why they didn't bring the rest of my crew, or why they drag us back after sending us away. It's kind of like asking why a cat likes you one minute and scratches you the next.

Usually it's because you did something to annoy the cat. Like touching it where it didn't want to be touched or holding it too long.

I still stick to the theory cats are jerks and do what they want just to confuse us.

I don't mind them. Couldn't ever have one, though.
